Many of us know how frustrating it can be to enter our data into someone's html form when the form is long and tedious. Here's some tips to make your html forms more user-friendly.
1.Limit number of questions on form to 10 per page.
Often times a form will contain 15 to 20 input fields or more. It's great for the designer of the form and sometimes necessary to get lots of data. However, from a user's perspective it's very tiring to fill out too much information. To get around this problem limit your input fields to about 10 per webpage. If you need more fields then link the first form to a second page which contains more questions or input fields.
2.When asking for a country use the character code
If you're going to ask for the country it's easier to use the 2 character country code in an input box. Better yet, make a pull-down menu of two character country codes for the user to select.
3.Use two character abbreviations for US States
When asking for the name of the US state use a pulldown menu with a 2 character code.
