Many new online business owners wonder how to best accept payment online for selling their products and services. It's difficult when first starting a new business to figure out the best methods of accepting payment online.

Merchants have to be wary of set-up costs and transaction costs when using 3rd party payment processors. Then there's the issue of which 3rd party processors can be trusted? Then Net is filled with unscrupulous businesses which would like nothing more than to steal sensitive information such as credit cards and passwords.

From my 10 years of web marketing experience I've come to rely heavily on two processors. The first is Paypal. Paypal lets you accept not only Paypal account payments, but also credit card payments. The advantage paypal offers is that it's internationally trusted and accepted in 190 countries and regions. This is one of the lowest cost solutions for accepting online payments. There are no start-up or monthly fees, no cancellation fees, and no minimum payments.

The second method which I prefer to use is 2Checkout. 2Checkout lets you accept credit cards online and has a very good fraud review feature which lets you know if a suspected payment is fraudulent. The drawback with 2checkout is that there is a One-time set up fee of $49. 2CO receives a wholesale rate discount of 5.5% plus $0.45 off the retail price of each total order.

I offer these two payment methods on all my shopping cart sites. These two services have provided an excellent low-cost solution to accepting payments online from customers and clients.
